Hi there!

I am an art director and designer with 20 years of experience. I’ve had the honor to work with many brilliant colleagues, lovingly making things we hoped could improve people’s lives. Half mad scientist, half stubborn idealist, I’ve the great job of leading diverse teams of designers, writers, engineers, and visionaries to take on impossible new challenges and hopefully change the world.

Experience

Senior UI/UX Design Lead
Linden Lab | Dec 2021 - Present

As the design lead for web, I am responsible for the appearance and user experience across all of the company’s web properties. This extends to shopping for virtual goods in the Marketplace, Events, Destinations and account management pages. I have worked with the web development team to gradually implement a design system, which we built using Figma, React JS, and Storybook. We have started to overhaul legacy page layouts and interfaces and have already seen significant signal with OKRs to suggest that the consistency seen in newly built UI’s is contributing to the retention of users and growing our ability to attract new users to the platform.

Responsible for shaping all aspects of visual and interactive elements for High Fidelity’s virtual reality experiences, web presence, and campaigns. This extends to working in close collaboration with a cross-functional team of artists, UI/UX designers, and engineers as well as external partners to develop exemplary 3D experiences that demonstrate the capabilities of the open-source platform.

Senior Marketing Specialist
San Joaquin Regional Transit District | Jun 2008 - Aug 2014

RTD is the regional transit provider for San Joaquin County, operating buses that serve nearly 5 million passenger trips annually. Worked with the marketing team to lead a successful redesign of RTD’s website, improving accessibility, strengthening standards compliance, and integrating a database-oriented architecture. Engaged internal and community stakeholders to ensure thorough testing and quality-assurance during each stage of the design process. Additional key accomplishments include:

- Building web forum to coordinate procurement efficiencies between 21 Bay Area transit agencies.

- Designing several award-winning advertising and branding campaigns across a wide range of media.

- Working collaboratively to streamline internal workflow processes for publishing timetable information.

- Integrating system-wide service data with Google Maps, and building an online trip planner to assist users.
