The Let's Make the Industry 50/50 Initiative (5050initiative.org) was founded by the Art Directors Club with a mission to effect drastic and measurable change as it pertains to the roles and participation of women within the creative industries.
Identity
We started with the identity for the campaign. The mark had to clearly convey the idea of 50/50 prominently and read well at small sizes, as a key piece of the campaign strategy was for pledging organizations to be able to display a badge in their collateral that featured their commitment to the initiative.
After many sketches and lengthy ideation we arrived at a design for the mark that fit these criteria and could be adapted for single color, full color, and knockout applications.
Badges
Be clear, be confident and don’t overthink it. The beauty of your story is that it’s going to continue to evolve and your site can evolve with it. Your goal should be to make it feel right for right now. Later will take care of itself. It always does.
Web
When crafting our web and social media presence, it was essential to ensure that our visuals communicate the essence and personality of the initiative. This meant weaving captivating visuals and compelling narratives together, immersing users in our message, fostering a deeper connection and inspiring action.
Through its library of inspiring profiles of female art directors, weaving authentic and relatable narratives into our web and social media presence helped to build a motivated, engaged, and supportive community within the industry.
